After reading through the brief I was not sure which book I should base my project on so at first I decided to take a brief look into each book.
So -
The Big Sleep - Is a hardboiled crime novel based in 1930's America written by Raymond Chandler. The story is about a detective named Phillip Marlowe working for the rich Sternwood family dealing with a blackmailer the story however becomes much more complex as characters begin to double cross one another. The book comes across as very film noir and the the characters are all stereotypical especially Detective Marlowe as he is tough, gritty, clever and also honest. The key themes in the book are corruption in American seen in the characters and the American depression as Marlowe mentions money as an ideal throughout the book.
The Wind In The Willows - Is a classic children's book written by Kenneth Grahame, the story is about four animal friends a badger, a rat, a mole and a toad, the story is based on the animals friendship and concern for toad who is reckless and always getting into trouble. For a children's book some of the themes are more sinister than you would expect showing the consequences of toad's reckless obsessions.
