John F Kennedy Research

After looking at the different speeches I decided to base my trailer on JFK's inaugural speech  because after the research task we did I realised there was a lot of backdrop to the speech and it was more interesting than I had originally thought it to be. After deciding this was the speech I wanted to use I researched further into JFK.

Brief biography -

Full name - John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Date of Birth - May 29th 1917
Died - November 22nd 1963.

JFK was the 35th president of the United States, serving from 1961 until he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd 1963 aged just 46. The assassin was shot two days later before a trial could take place.

The Speech - His inaugural speech took place on Friday the 20th January 1961 at 12.52pm.

Historical and Political backdrop - At the time of the speech the two big backdrops were the cold war and the civil rights movement. The cold war

"In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility—I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it—and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.24
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country."

I chose this part of the speech because for me it has the most powerful quotes which  I think can be linked to very strong imagery and is also the most famous part of the speech so it will be recognisable.
